Embossing is most suitable for mid-to-light paper colours so the shadows of the embossing can help with legibility. Embossing is great for hero items like names, larger florals or patterns for instance. It’s not recommended for small text as legibility can be an issue. Please remember there’s a small amount of movement with digital printing (up to 2mm). Avoid designs where your digital artwork meets your Embossed artwork at exact points OR has tight registration (too close together) between the digital printing and the Embossing due to this movement. The Embossed impression will be deeper on duplexed (double-thick) stocks than on thinner single thickness stocks. If you order a double-thick stock, you can choose for your Embossing to be visible on the other side of the card (a crisp reverse impression) OR for the back of the card to be smooth by duplexing after Embossing. Bear in mind that you can lose some of the impression due to the gluing and pressure required to stick the stocks together. To make sure your artwork is suitable for Embossing + digital printing, submit your design and our Customer Happiness Managers will let you know ASAP if there's any issues to fix or, if the artwork is correct, we’ll give you an Embossing Approval Number to quote when you’re ordering.
