Digital Flat Foil
Just like traditional Hot Foil Press, Digital Flat Foil applies a thin layer of heat reactive metal foil to the card, but whereas Hot Foil Press requires a magnesium block of your design to stamp the foil onto your chosen stock, Digital Flat Foil uses a 100% black digital print which the foil adheres to when heat is applied. Digital Flat Foil is also known as Toner Reactive Foiling or Sleeking - and with its real-metal shine, it's next level compared to Digital Gold Printing.
So, if you want a quick and easy foiled look that's a budget friendly too, then why not try Digital Flat Foil to make your design shine?

Peterkin's Digital Flat Foil is Different
Digital Flat Foiling usually requires a lamination process that coats the surface of the card stock with a polymer film. Lamination is frequently used to coat business cards, flyers, menus etc. The plastic coating makes the card more durable – but also renders it non-recyclable.
The lamination stage makes the card stock super smooth BUT slightly alters its colour (making the paper look more muted and paler) and fills in any texture - it leaves a rubbery feel to the card. Once laminated you cannot tell the quality or surface feel of the card stock. This is why most printers only offer one type of cheaper, smooth white stock for Digital Flat Foiling.
But we’re not fans of using unnecessary plastic at Peterkin – and with our wonderful range of luxe stocks – we know they’re at their best ‘au naturel’! So, after extensive testing, we’ve achieved incredible results without the lamination process on a selection of Peterkin’s gorgeous smooth stocks including white, cream and pastel shades from our Marshmallow and Milkshake ranges!
