Gmund Mother Earth paper and card

Gmund Mother Earth

Gmund Mother Earth is inspired by the rich colours and textures of nature, and is milled from 50% alternative fibres such as grass and grain waste blended with FSC certified wood pulp. The pulp is coloured using natural dyes, and has a unique raw, earthy character that's visually stunning and tactile, especially with digital printing, blind embossing or letterpressing. (Even the names of these gorgeous card stocks evoke memories of planty tastes and smells!)

Environment

  • All Gmund papers stem from wood pulp that is FSC-certified (FSC-006462®).

  • The electric energy generation is exemplary at Gmund. 100% of the electricity used for their paper production comes from Gmund’s own, and external hydropower plants in the foothills of the Alps.

  • Water consumption during paper production is constantly controlled and optimised.

  • Production water is treated on site without chemicals, with a unique Ozone Water Cleansing facility.

  • The Gmund range is also vegan, acid free and pH neutral.

Surface

Tactile, lightly textured matt surface - each piece is unique with a high volume of visible plant flecks throughout the pulp on both sides.

Peterkin Printery suitability/availability

350gsm and 700gsm: Digital CMYK colour (avoid solids), digital white (Apricot and Curcuma), digital gold and silver (depending on stock colour)*. Hot Foil Press, Letterpress and Blind Embossing.

*Because Gmund Mother Earth is a heavily textured stock, the amount of toner fusing onto the raw and inconsistent surface varies from print to print. So, you may notice that fine detail and smaller / thinner fonts can look faded or patchy. While this effect works well with the aesthetic of Gmund Mother Earth, if you’re looking for a more polished and crisp result please consider digital printing on a smoother stock. Slight variation between prints is a normal result on this stock and not a fault (each piece is unique and adds to the natural charm of this beautiful stock!)

We highly recommend a sample print to test your design.

Tabs on Pockets and Sleeves should be hot glued and firmly pressed for best results. Double sided tape may not hold securely.

Every card and paper stock we sell has been tested for its printing suitability on Peterkin’s in-house digital printers and Heidelberg commercial presses. This means that if we offer printing on a particular stock, you’re covered by the Peterkin Printery Guarantee.

Printing this paper or card with other commercial or domestic digital print machines

If you choose to purchase our paper or card stocks to print elsewhere, we cannot guarantee the printed results. Paper is a natural, delicate product which will always vary slightly batch to batch and every printer/press is different. Many 'home' printers aren’t suitable for printing on textured stocks or thicker than 120gsm, so we strongly recommend test printing first.
