Hot Foil Press on single thickness stocks (350gsm and under) may have a very small amount of impression on the reverse side. If you have a double-sided design, we’d highly recommend choosing a double-thick (duplexed stock) to avoid any minor show-through. Try to avoid Hot Foil Press designs that have a big contrast between thick and thin areas to be foiled. For us to achieve the best result when foiling small or thin type, larger areas of foil may not adhere properly to the stock and appear patchy. If you're in any doubt whether your artwork is suitable for Hot Foil Press and to check it meets our guidelines submit your design and our Customer Happiness Managers, will let you know ASAP if there's any issues to fix or you're good to place your order.
Hot Foil Pressing on transparent stock can be achieved but results vary depending on the design and even the colour of foil chosen. Transparent stock has a baking-paper-like surface that tries to repel the foil, resulting in tiny spot-sized ‘holes’ where the foil has not taken to the stock. This is mainly noticeable on bolder areas of type but is unpredictable. Solid areas or type over 5mm wide is not recommended on this stock. Another factor is the foil shade. Some popular colours (like gold) are available in different grades and manufacturers, so if one doesn't work well, we can try another. Unfortunately, some foil shades like Rose Gold are only available in one type. Some curling of the transparent stock can occur, especially when the foiling is then die cut. We weight your order down after cutting to reduce the curl, but your order may still be a bit 'curled' when you get them, please weight them down a little longer. As long as you’re aware of the potential issues of Hot Foil Pressing on transparent stock, we promise to give you the best results possible from our experienced Printery Team.
